Hello, greetings from London!
My connection with Mayfair School goes back to 1986 when I helped our CEO, Naeem, set up the school. Not only did Naeem and I teach English together in London for a few years, but we also studied at the same university.
I have been a language learner for almost as long as I can remember and am in fact always working to improve my Spanish, Italian and French after all these years. I graduated in Modern Languages and Linguistics and then completed post-graduate training in language teaching. Since then I have worked as a subject leader, examiner, course materials writer and trip coordinator in a range of settings and taught learners of all ages both in and outside the UK. My experience as a language learner and teacher has given me a very important understanding of the complexities of second language acquisition. I am committed to student motivation through innovation and excellent practice in the language classroom.
Because much of my own language learning took place in Spain and Italy, I know what it can feel like to be a student abroad. As a parent, I also know how important it is for our students to feel safe in London. With our dedicated and experienced team at Mayfair, I have absolute confidence that all students are very well looked after.
On a personal level, I am actively interested in drawing, painting and textiles and like working on practical projects and exploring line and form through a range of materials, including stitch. It is in this space that I find time and space to relax and move away from verbal to visual communication. Inspired by the landscapes and life in the Mediterranean, I am very partial to travel for the visual impact of new terrain and cultures, light and colour.
