Language has always fascinated me from growing up in the small, but diverse, city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. Listening to my school friends talk in their many different languages, I knew that I would somehow choose a career around words.
From wanting to be an actress, to a journalist, to a novel writer, I have finally found my passion in teaching English as a language. I have been a teacher since 2009, everything from teaching Shakespeare to Secondary School children in England, to teaching speakers of other languages up to Advanced level in Spain. Other teaching experiences of mine involve teaching for exams, including IELTS. Since my training in the Academic IELTS exam, I feel that I can really push my students to reach their goals by giving them the support, encouragement and advice needed.
After living in Spain for 3 years, I also have the wonderful experience of being a language learner. At present, my Spanish is at an upper-intermediate level, and I thoroughly enjoy learning new words to expand my vocabulary. Due to this, I am patient, understanding and always try to make my students feel comfortable and confident in my classroom.
All in all, I am a sociable and lively teacher with a love of literature, languages and learning!
