Sights London
London has so many tourist attractions that it is impossible to mention them all here. This is our top ten.
London Eye
Opened for the millennium this is the perfect place to begin your tour of London. The views are amazing and it gives you a really good idea of where everything is in London. It's not cheap but it is good!
St Paul's Cathedral
St Paul's is one of London's most beautiful buildings with hundreds of years of history. It is also just across the river from the fantastic Tate Modern, London's largest modern art gallery. You can walk from St Paul's to Tate Modern across London's newest bridge, the Millennium Bridge.
Portobello and Camden Markets
If you like shopping then you must visit Portobello Road and Camden Market. These two big street markets sell everything and you can buy some real bargains. If you love flowers then you could also walk down Columbia Road, London's biggest and best flower market held every Sunday.
Buckingham Palace
Home of the Royal Family for over 150 years you can go on a tour inside in the summer months.
Westminster Abbey
You can find many of England's most famous writers buried in Poet's Corner in this Abbey, which is almost 1000 years old.
Tower Bridge
 |
One of London's most famous landmarks. Walk across the bridge to enjoy one of the most famous views in the world. If you are lucky you might even get to see the bridge opening to allow ships to pass underneath. |
The Tower of London
Home to some of London's most horrible history. Built by William the Conqueror the Tower of London has been a prison, a castle and a Royal Palace. It is now home to the Crown Jewels and a tour is an essential part of any trip to London.
Kew Gardens
World-famous gardens with beautiful greenhouses, paths and one of the world's largest collections of plants and trees. The perfect place to relax after a busy day in London.
Hyde Park
In the centre of town Hyde Park is perfect for a lunchtime picnic or a short walk to get away from the traffic and noise of the city. Home to Kensington Palace, former home of Princess Diana, Hyde Park is popular with tourists and Londoners alike.
River Thames Trip
Tired of walking? Fed up with the Underground? Go on a cruise from Embankment, in the centre of London, to Greenwich, famous for it's naval history and the Royal Observatory. Enjoy fantastic views of London from the river and have a look round Greenwich Market before coming back to the centre.
