Mayfair News
November 2008 Events by Duncan Watson
November was a hectic month at Mayfair with our school being exceptionally busy for this time of year. The school was pleased to announce the completion of our new restroom facilities and the addition of yet another classroom to our site. Increased classroom space and student numbers, of course, requires more teachers and the school was fortunate to welcome five new teachers to our staff in November: Tim, Peter, Michael, Sharon and Liz, each bringing a valuable array of skills and experience to our school.
Throughout November, our students took part in many activities on our popular Social Programme with great success. At the beginning of the month Kelly took a large group of students to visit the Lord Mayor’s Show in the City of London, an event which has been celebrated without fail for hundreds of years. Then the following week, war broke out in our school! But don’t worry it was fought with paintballs not bullets, when Aman and Jolanta took a group of 50 students to play paintballing at London’s DeltaForce Paintballing Centre; there were two teams of 25: boys against girls! Can you guess who won?
By the second half of November London had already turned festive in preparation for Christmas and Oxford Street (and our school) was lit up with its traditional Christmas Illuminations. It was only natural that our Social Programme should reflect the festive spirit, with a trip to a Christmas Ice-rink and a Christmas Shopping Spree rounding off our programme for November.
