Mayfair News
March 2009 Events by Duncan Watson
This month's news:
This month has seen more bad news on the economy, both in the UK and abroad, but that has not deterred many new students from travelling to London to study at our school. And who can blame them? With the pound at its lowest level for many years it makes perfect sense to invest in the future by coming to London to study English. However, the new arrivals have not been limited to the student body as we have been lucky enough to welcome two new teachers to our school this March - Mat, who has joined us on work experience from Australia, and Helen, a former Mayfair teacher, who has just returned from travelling in South America.
It has been a busy month for our school’s Social Programme too. This month kicked off with an excursion to Oxford - over 60 of our students followed Jamie and Zoë on their personalised tour of the dreaming spires and nearly all of them made it back to London without getting lost! Not to be outdone, Sharon followed this up with her tour of Camden’s Saturday Market one week later. With a Korean Karaoke night organised and led by Mike (and yes he did sing too!) the week after that, we thought it best to wrap up the last week in March with a more sedate event - a night of gastronomic delight at La Porchetta, one of London’s most famous Pizzerias.
