IELTS

Mayfair School offers a continuous enrolment preparation course for both the IELTS Academic Examination and the IELTS General Training Examination. These courses are designed to familiarise you with the four different papers and improve your skills to help you obtain the result you need. You will study fifteen lessons per week and complete a substantial amount of homework.

IELTS is now essential for those hoping to study at UK universities or work in the nursing profession. Your course will introduce you to all of the tasks contained within the exam and individual attention from your tutor will help improve your writing, reading, listening and speaking skills.

The IELTS exam takes place every Saturday in London and the school is happy to help you organise your place. You can find out your result in just two weeks and remember that a good IELTS result will also improve your CV.

From 2009 we will be offering two new IELTS programmes at our school:

IELTS for LIFE - a General English course that prepares students to take the IELTS General Training Exam. This course is suitable for strong intermediate students and above and is available at our normal General English course prices. Students may enrol on this course in any week, for 50 weeks out of the year.

IELTS for STUDY - a special course in Academic English that prepares students to take the IELTS Academic Exam, an essential requirement for all students who are interested in applying to study at a university or college in the UK in the future. This course is suitable for upper-intermediate students and above. Students may enrol in any week for 50 weeks out of the year; however, a minimum enrolment of 4 weeks is required to reflect the demanding nature of the course.

Cambridge Examination Courses

Get proof of your ability in English by preparing for and taking a Cambridge exam. Many students find that a First Certificate, Advanced or Proficiency exam certificate opens new doors for them and with our 20 years of experience in preparing students for these exams our success rate is very good.

These exams take place in March, June and December and our preparation courses last for either eight or twelve weeks. Students may enrol for 4, 8 or 12 weeks.

ILEC Courses in London

ILEC. International Legal English Certificate. This exam is aimed at upper-intermediate and advanced level learners of English and can be taken by law students and qualified lawyers. The examination takes place twice a year, in May and November, and tests learners at Common European Framework levels B2 and C1. These levels are equivalent to the FCE and CAE General English examinations.

This exam is recognised by the European Company Lawyers Association, the European Law Students Association, the International Association of Young Lawyers and the European Young Bar Association. The exam contains four papers, reading, writing, listening and speaking and all candidates receive a statement of results showing their performance. Candidates who achieve passing grades will be awarded a certificate by University Cambridge ESOL examinations.

• Exam classes have an average of 10 students; min 8, max 12 (IELTS for LIFE has an average of 16; min 10, max 20).
• Please note that each 3 hour class has 3 hours of study time excluding breaks.
• Mayfair School of English does not open on Public Holidays.
• Exam course fees do not include exam registration fees.
