Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Programmes

ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management Certificate (6 months)

This course introduces the basic principles of the tourism industry. It is designed for students with a good level of English, who want to work in the world’s largest industry and need practical and theoretical knowledge or for students who want to go on to study at Diploma and Advanced Diploma level before entering the final year of a travel and tourism-related degree programme.

This course is a good first step in the world of hospitality, an English level of Upper Intermediate is required as well as a successful interview with our Pathway Advisor. No other academic qualifications are required.

The ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Certificate course contains four modules:
- Introduction to Business: you will study business structures, business environments, the purposes behind business and examine business case studies.
- Introduction to Business Communication: you will examine different media for communication and consider the cultural and legal aspects involved in this area.
- Introduction to Accounting: you will learn basic concepts and practices in preparation for real-world tasks and more advanced study.
- Introduction to Travel, Tourism and Hospitality: you will examine issues relating to the tourism and hospitality industry which will provide a thorough understanding of this area and a solid foundation for more in-depth study.

After completing this course, students are ready to apply for administrative positions in hotels, airlines and travel agencies. Alternatively, students can progress to Diploma level.

The course requires 15 hours classroom study per week over 24 weeks plus a recommended minimum of 5 hours self-study per week.

ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management Diploma (12 months)
This course is completed in two six-month blocks. These can be taken in more than one year but both must be passed before the qualification is awarded. It is designed for those who have either completed Step 1 – the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Certificate or for those with previous travel and tourism studies experience or relevant work experience. As with Step 1 a good level of English is required. Your Pathway Advisor can provide more information on these entry conditions.

Students successfully completing the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management Diploma can look to work in management positions, within airlines, hotels and tourism businesses, continue their studies by undertaking the Advanced Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management or potentially join the second year of a travel and tourism-related undergraduate programme at a UK university. Your Pathway Advisor will provide advice on all of these possibilities.

The ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management Diploma  course contains seven compulsory modules:
- Economic Principles and their Application to Business
- Organisational Behaviour
- Financial Accounting
- Travel, Tourism and Hospitality
- Marketing Policy, Planning and Accounting
- Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Operations Management
- Human Resource Management

Plus two modules from:
- Managerial Accounting
- Principles of Business Law
- IT in Hospitality and Tourism Operations
- Customer Service Skills

The course requires 15 hours of classroom study per week over 2 x 24 weeks plus a recommended minimum of 5 hours self-study per week.
 

ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management Advanced Diploma (12 months)
This course is completed in twelve months. It is designed for those who have either completed Step 2 – the Travle, Tourisma and Hospitality Management Diploma or for those with previous travel, tourism and hospitality experience to undergraduate level. Your Pathway Advisor can provide more information on these entry conditions.

Students successfully completing the Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management Advanced Diploma can look to work in senior travel and tourism management positions, potentially join the final year of a related undergraduate programme or begin a postgraduate programme at a UK university .Your Pathway Advisor will provide advice on these possibilities and details on each of the modules.

The ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management Advanced Diploma contains three compulsory modules:
- International Travel, Tourism and Hospitality
- Strategic Hospitality Management
- Sustainable Tourism Planning and Development

Plus two modules from:
- Managing in Organisations
- Strategic Marketing Management
- Strategic Human Resource Management for Business Organisation 

The course requires 15 hours classroom study per week over 2 x 24 weeks plus a recommended minimum of 5 hours self-study per week.
