November 2011 Events

November is the time when winter starts to bite in London: the clocks are changed so the nights draw in even earlier and thick coats and jumpers appear all round as the temperature drops and the wind chills to the bone. Nevertheless, there are plenty of things to brighten up the month particularly with Guy Fawkes Night (aka Bonfire / Fireworks Night) on 5th November, when all of London is lit up with the site of fireworks exploding into the night sky. Then, of course, there are the famous Oxford Street Christmas Lights, which are turned on at the end of the month, every year with a different Christmassy theme; with our school being situated on a prime spot on London’s most renowned shopping street there is no better vantage point to admire the lights and get in the festive spirit.

To kick start the festive season, our school’s November Social Programme had a special Christmassy event in the form of Tara’s trip to Winter Wonderland on 25th November. However, it was not all about the festive season this month, as we also found time to lay on two nightclub visits for the those who just want to party: there was Charley’s Salsa Night, at London’s most famous Latin club, on 4th November and a visit that old favourite 93 Feet East, the coolest nightspot in East London, on 18th November. For the culture lovers amongst our students, of which we know there are many, there was also a chance to take in the many fantastic works of art on display at Tate Modern on 11th November with a guided tour from Ben thrown in! If we are being honest though, this November was really just an opportunity to pause for a rest as we all knew the big event still lay ahead of us – the Mayfair School Christmas Party on 15th December, once again held exclusively at PUNK London’s most trending nightclub. Tickets are already on sale so don’t delay – come to the office to get yours now. It is going to be great!....
