March 2011 Events

As March drew to an end there was an almost audible sigh of relief from the school’s staff as we neared the end of our programme of refurbishments around the school. All classrooms have been completely redecorated now and it’s fair to say the school now looks revitalised, as good as new in fact! Not bad for a historic Victorian building, which has proudly stood looking down on Oxford Street for over 100 years…

The month of March was a very significant one for the school, not just because it saw us complete refurbishing the building, but because our school was inspected by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) on 30th March. This prestigious accrediting body is a sister organisation of the British Council, which accredits private schools and colleges offering non-English language programmes. As our school offers university pathways programmes (NQF level 3, 5 and 6) in Business Management and Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management, accredited by the Association of Business Executives (ABE), we are keen to have this additional layer of accreditation to confirm the academic quality of the programmes we offer. I am happy to report that, from our point of view, the inspection went very well; but we wait with baited breath for the only real opinion that matters – the verdict of the BAC inspector himself, which will be disclosed when the BAC’s inspection report is published in April. Keep your fingers crossed!...

Another busy and fun-filled Social Programme this month. Let’s see what did we get up to in March? Well, there was Ruth’s Soho Blues Night on 4th March – great music and a good time was had by all! Then there was one for the shopaholics on 11th March as Mat took students on a Saturday tour of London’s famous Greenwich Market. After that it was time for an old, old favourite with a trip to one of London’s greatest riverside bars, The Tattershall Castle, on 18th March. The schedule was wrapped up on a note of culture with a trip to Tate Modern on 25th March, and when it comes to modern art, who better to act as a guide than thoroughly modern Mike, who was only to happy to oblige!...

Well, that was March...Keep your eyes peeled for that in April!
